Sandy came to Alaska in 1962 and spent her childhood in bush communities along the Alaskan coast. Her artistic talent was apparent early on and expressed through drawing and painting. Her affinity for stained glass is a natural extension of her passion for art.
Two years ago she established her business Custom Stained Glass in Anchorage and last year she was published in Stained Glass News for an original eagle piece she designed and created.
Last summer Sandy and her husband Dick moved to "beautiful downtown Sterling" Alaska and designed and built an airy, spacious studio in their new location off Scout Lake Road on the Kenai River.
With the added room, Sandy has been able to expand her venue to include teaching Beginning and Intermediate Lead Came and Copper Foil classes.
She crafts a wide variety of colorful, functional and whimsical pieces as well as custom and restoration work. Her work reflects her enthusiasm for life, love of art and Alaskan ingenuity. |
